Spain with Kids: 13-Day Family Itinerary Made Easy
From Madrid’s bustling streets to Granada’s palace gardens, our family trip to Spain with kids was unforgettable—but it didn’t happen without careful planning. If you’re traveling with little ones, the key is booking hotels, train tickets, and attraction passes well in advance.

1. Choosing Family-Friendly Hotels in Spain
When traveling with children, location is everything. We booked accommodations close to public transport and main attractions to save little legs for the fun stuff.
Madrid: Opera Room, Calle de la Flora – quick metro access. [Insert affiliate hotel link]
Seville: Calle Ardilla apartment – walking distance to Cathedral & Alcázar. [Insert affiliate hotel link]
Granada: Apartment in Barrio del Realejo – 10 minutes from Alhambra. [Insert affiliate hotel link]
💡 Tip: Choose places with kitchenettes for easy meal prep
With kids, skipping queues is a sanity-saver. We booked all tickets online before arrival:
Madrid: [Santiago Bernabéu Stadium Tour]
Seville: [Cathedral & Royal Alcázar combo ticket]*
Granada: [Alhambra General Admission]* – book 2 months ahead
Cordoba: [Mezquita Cathedral Entrance]*
These online tickets saved us hours of waiting and ensured guaranteed entry.
2. Attraction Tickets – Book Before You Fly
3.Train Travel Between Cities
Spain’s high-speed Renfe trains made city-hopping smooth and stress-free. We opted for direct routes whenever possible, worth every euro for a calm ride with kids. [Insert affiliate rail booking link]
We carried a “fun bag” for each child—snacks, small toys, coloring books—and scheduled playground stops in between sightseeing. Spain has plenty of parks to let kids recharge.
4.Keeping Kids Happy on the road
5.Supermarket shopping
Since some nights we stay at homestays (AirBnb like), I have to cook instead of dining out. One major reason is because finding Halal food is quite challenging although there are many Arab food easy to find, but our throat craves for something back home. So we balanced dining out with supermarket finds: fresh fruit, bread, cheese, and pastries.
If you’re planning a Spain family vacation, aim for one main attraction per day or two secondary attractions then fill the rest with flexible activities. Booking hotels, trains, and tickets early will turn your trip from a stressful rush into a smooth adventure your kids will remember forever.
